Origin and History of Bully Kutta:

There are many theories about the origin of this breed. According to the most logical theory there was already a Mastiff breed present in sub-continent of Indo-Pakistan which was used for hunting, guarding and many other purposes. When Britain conquered the sub-continent of Indo-Pakistan, the British soldiers brought their Mastiff type dogs, Bull Terriers and other breeds along with them. These dogs were crossed with the local breed and that’s why there are different types of Bully Kuttas (Pakistani Mastiffs).

There is a theory that this breed was originated in the desert areas of Sindh. That's why it is also called a "Sindhi Mastiff." They are a Molosser type dog from Pakistan and are largely found in that region. The word "Bully" comes from the root word of Punjabi (a language spoken by inhabitants of the historical Province of Punjab of Pakistan) "Bohli" which is pronounced as "Boo-Lee" means "heavily wrinkled." And Kutta is a word of Punjabi or Urdu language which means "dog." Thus, Bully Kutta means "heavily wrinkled dog."

Bully Kutta is a descendant of the extinct breed Alaunt that originated in Sindh (desert area of Kutch), Rajasthan and South Punjab (Bhawalpur) regions of modern-day Pakistan.

The earliest glimpse of this breed comes from an old painting of Mughal Era where Mughal Emperor Akbar is hunting with Bully Kutta type dog (Sindhi Mastiff) along with Cheetahs. There are accounts of Bully Kutta dog fighting in Punjab during the reign of Maha Rajah Ranjit Singh, the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire. However, the appearance of modern-day bully Kutta may happen been achieved by cross breeding with other breeds as theories suggest that, during the British invasion, the British soldiers brought English mastiff dogs and English Bull terriers and Stafford-shire bull terrier with them to India. All over the world, they are used variously as "hog dogs" (catching escaped pigs or hunting razorbacks.

Temperament;
Bully Kutta is a very intelligent, aggressive and has a lot of energy. Because of its alertness and quickness and dangerous look they are used for Guarding purpose. They are also portrayed as Macho Man. Due to their aggressiveness Vets and Breeders suggest that only experienced owners should keep them. New owners don’t know to handle them which may lead to enhance aggressiveness. They are not recommended for families with kids but if raise well can be suitable breed for families.

They can easily adapt to any type of home (not small), as well as, can live indoor and outdoor without any problem.

Their overall health is very good and we haven’t found any special health-related problems in them.

Cons:
·        Not suitable for small homes:
They are large and are active too. So, it’s difficult to keep them in small homes and apartments. Large homes and most ideally the homes with lawns or backyards are the best ones to keep a Bully Kutta.

Yes, you need to be an expert to keep a Pakistani Bully. Because it needs lots of training and tough handling which a new or inexperienced owner can’t do easily.
·        Aggression:
Training and socialization at an early age are highly recommended or they may develop aggressive behavior and with that much power, they can become a disaster.

Bully Kutta Health-related Issues:
Bully Kutta is found in Pakistan and India only and we can rarely see anyone of these strong dogs outside of the sub-continent. Therefore, not much information is available on the internet and other related forums regarding their health. Still, we can get an idea about their health by closely looking at health-related issues of other Bully breeds such as Pitbulls and American Bullys.
So, some of the diseases a bully dog may develop are mentioned below:
·         Hip Dysplasia: Malformation of the ball and socket joints of the hip is known as Hip   Dysplasia. It can cause severe pain and crippling in dogs. If it is not diagnosed at an   early age, it may result in more complex issues.
·         Congenital Heart Disease: The bully breeds also share congenital heart disease   which can affect one or both sides of the heart.
·         Common Skin Problems: The bully breeds may develop different skin problems     such as EczemaSeborrhea, and Acute Moist Dermatitis. These skin diseases    usually develop when the personal hygiene of dogs is poor. To avoid skin diseases in    Bully. vets suggest that they should be kept clean.

Grooming:
Because of its short coat, it is very easy to groom a Bully Kutta. It is an average shedder and you’ll need to comb and brush him with a bristle brush. Also, it does not need regular bathing, instead you can bathe when it is necessary or it looks dirty.

Bully Kutta Exercise Needs:
They need regular exercise and other activities to maintain their physical and mental health. It is also recommended to walk them daily. If not exercised or walked regularly, they are more likely to develop aggressive and destructive behavior which results in a total disaster.
Bully Kutta as Fighting Dog:
Unfortunately, this macho-man has been illegally used for dog fighting in several areas of India and Pakistan. For that purpose, they are raised in such a way that they won’t tolerate any other dog, a stranger, or any species which is non-familiar to them. The government authorities have been trying to stop this illegal fighting game, as well as, many rescue groups and non-profit organizations have been trying to recover such dogs from the fighting rings.

Summary
Bully Kutta is a very intelligent, aggressive and has a lot of energy. Because of its alertness and quickness and dangerous look they are used for Guarding purpose. They are also portrayed as Macho Man. you need to be an expert to keep a Pakistani Bully. Because it needs lots of training and tough handling which a new or inexperienced owner can’t do easily.
